The design for the Transportation Museum is a section active system with vaults and folds, which articulates the structural capacity of the roof. Computational Protocols were developed to rationalize the vaulting roof structure within the material tolerances of glass fiber reinforced gypsum. Portions of the roof were surfaced as ruled developable panels to allow cold bending processes during installation.

Each valley and peak of the vault roof has a cylindrical section, which was implemented to reduce fabrication costs and enable a more efficient manufacturing process. A parametric template was built to enable local modifications to the roof design, optimizing the overall geometry within the material systems.
